ÍSJA: New employees?
SIRIUN: What, did you really think we’d be taking you to Firan for free?
Ísja clutches his satchel’s strap to his chest.
ÍSJA: I mean, that guy up fron’ts the one who offered–
SIRIUN: Yeah, yeah. Whatever. Mam’ti’s just the guy who drives me places. He’s, like, at my beck and call.
Lani grips her knees hard.
LANI (SHAKILY): No.
SIRIUN: No?
Siriun smirks and leans her chin onto her hands.
SIRIUN: Sounds like someone really wants to try braving the rest of the walk to Firan! You people’ll only be working for the day–don’t worry your little heads about it.
Lani looks at the door nervously.
LANI (THINKING): There’s no way she’s just keeping us with her for a day. She’s trapping us. She has to be. There aren’t any exits aside from the door, but jumping out while this thing’s moving seems like an awful idea. Going out the door while this thing’s moving seems like an awful idea. Playing along can’t be the only option. …Can it?
